Vaccination officer suspended
The vaccines were procured from a reputed company in the country but everything is under examination

INDORE: Two kids died on the spot after being administered with measles vaccine at Majhgavan Community Health Centre in Satna district, 35 kms north of Satna, on Wednesday afternoon. An auxiliary nurse mid-wife (ANM) of the centre administered the injections.
The bodies were sent for postmortem to Satna in the evening. Meanwhile, the district vaccination officer has been suspended and an enquiry has been ordered.
A research fellow of Child Rights and You (CRY), Prateek, informed that 9-month-old Ravi (son of Ramesh Yadav and resident of Phadniya village) and 9-month-old Deepu, daughter of Ramkushal Tiwari resident of Kukurnivala died within 10 minutes after being injected with the vaccine.
Collector Satna KK Khare said district vaccination officer Satyendra Singh has been suspended and a probe has been ordered under ADM Brigendra Mishra. "The vaccines were procured from a reputed company in the country but everything is under examination," said the collector and heaved a sigh of relief that "more deaths did not take place."" Generally the hospital is flooded for vaccinations but on Wednesday only two children came for getting vaccinated," said the collector.
Sources said on May 26, the district administration supplied about two thousand vaccine doses to Majhgavan. All the senior health officials of the district have reached the spot. All the vaccines were seized by the administration and sent for examination. The injection, which was administered to the kids bore batch number - 1124(A).
A team of WHO is also likely to reach the community centre on Thursday. Meanwhile, the situation in the area is tense and police forces have been deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
